Long, Deep Green Cloisonné Leaf Earrings
This is a very special pair of vitreous enamel earrings, with deep, rich greens and warm apricot accents. Cloisonné is a very old technique that incorporates wires to create separate areas of color in the enamel surface.
Sterling silver leverback hoops add security when you wear your enameled leaves, helping them stay put even if you're wearing a scarf or your mask.
Vitreous Enamel is essentially glass that has been fused to the metal beneath it. Several fine layers of enamel were applied to fine silver leaves and repeatedly fired to 1400° F to achieve the beautiful finish you see here. While it is very durable, it's important that you are careful with your enamel items, so that they don't fall onto hard surfaces or get crushed in your luggage. If you pack your enamels, be sure to keep them padded, in a hard-body case. With care, they can last generations.
Approximately 2.75-inches long.
